WHAT TYPE OF DECK SHOULD I BUY?

Here are 4 different types of skateboard decks.

If you are a beginner, you should probably buy a complete board so you can get rolling straight away, choose from our completes here.

In the meantime, here is some general info on decks - there are 4 main types of skateboard deck:

Popsicle

Cruiser Board

Longboard

Here is the bottom and top of a popsicle deck. Ideal for street and park skating, as this is the most common, the vast majority of our decks are popsicles.

Nose and tail are similar shapes so perfect for trickery

Widths can vary from around 6.5 inches all the way to 9 inches (“)

Lengths can vary from around 28” to 33”

The standard shape for many years

Steeper concaves and more tail curvature, noses are often flat

Widths can vary from around 8.25” to 10.5”

Lengths can vary from around 28” to 33”

Based on an old skool pool deck, shaped decks are very popular now for all types of skating

Normally has a curved tail and a flat nose but can vary, usually sold as a complete setup

The famous ‘Pennyboards’ are smaller and made from plastic with more flex

Widths can vary from around 7.4” to 10.5”

Lengths can vary from around 22” to 37”

Complete cruiser setups come with soft wheels for nice smooth journeys

All kinds of shapes and sizes, mostly flat, some slight curvature, usually sold as a complete setup

Most longboard trucks are naturally bigger and have reversed kingpins for more response

Widths can vary from around 7” to 10.5”

Lengths can vary from around 32” to 43”

Longboards have bigger and softer wheels for more control and stability

All kinds of people skate all different sizes of decks, that is the beauty of skateboarding, it’s best to try out different sizes and shapes to find your personal preference.
